Gallery North is pleased to announce our guest artist for September: Matthew Lerman. Come meet the artist at the opening reception, September 1st, from 4-7pm!

Matthew Lerman will be showing his photography at Gallery North, 9 Eagle Street, North Adams, MA. The exhibit will accompany new work by permanent gallery artists Marilyn Cavallari, Ghetta Hirsch, Sean McCusker, Mallory Rich, and Barbara Patton from September 1st to September 30th; with an opening reception Sunday, September 1st from 4-7pm.

Matthew Lerman has dedicated his life to exploring nature and helping others see the beauty and splendor surrounding us. Professor Lerman spent forty years teaching biology in the NYC area. For years he has shared his photographs with his students, now he wishes to share them with you. Matthew's artistic portrayal of nature strives to bring the beauty of the outdoors into focus by capturing fleeting moments and unique compositions.

Morris Bennet is the July Guest Artist at Gallery North!

Bennet will be showing his oil paintings at Gallery North, 9 Eagle Street, North Adams, MA. The exhibit will accompany new work by permanent gallery artists Marilyn Cavallari, Ghetta Hirsch, Sean McCusker, and Mallory Rich from July 1st to July 31st; with an opening reception Monday, July 1st from 4-7pm.

Morris Bennett’s paintings are a combination of many different art styles synthesized with directly observed forms in nature. Music and other sounds are also among his influences. He exploits the human tendency to project inner states on outer forms by using his academic training to paint non-representational images.

Marilyn Cavallari lives in Williamstown. She is a contemporary landscape and seascape artist. She works with delicate strokes on several paintings simultaneously, distributing to each canvas her choice of bright and joyful colors.

Ghetta Hirsch offers a visual conversation on Nature. She composes vivid landscapes, observing the patterns of forms and colors on fields, mountains and water. Her “Abstract Realism” style relates calm and serenity to the meditative viewers.

Sean McCusker has been creating surreal landscapes inspired by the hilly Berkshires for over 20 years. His oil paintings, full of light and color, are built up slowly with an average of 30 thin transparent layers giving the effect of light emitting from the canvas.

Mallory Rich, a resident of Sandgate, VT has paintings in pastels and oils with her focus on rural VT, eastern New York and coastal Maine. She was a finalist in American Magazine’s 30 th Annual National Competition. She paints small moments in the landscape often unnoticed in our busy days.

I am excited to announce that GALLERY NORTH at 9 Eagle Street in North Adams, MA will exhibit my new Berkshires oil paintings this Summer. I am inviting you to the Opening Reception on July 1st, 4-7. There will be an additional reception on August 1st as well. I look forward to seeing you there!

I will have an Open Studio and an Oil Painting Demonstration during Berkshires Artweek from noon to 4:30 pm on Sunday 5/19 and Monday 5/20. The studio location is 30 Church Street, in Williamstown. Park at the Elementary School nearby. Enter through driveway door and follow the signs.

You are invited to the Opening of Berkshires Invitational Art Exhibit at the Future Lab(s) Gallery, 43 Eagle Street in North Adams. “Cabbage Fold” 30” x 24” oil painting on canvas shown will be part of the exhibition. See the attached invitation for details and see you Friday the 5th between 6 and 8pm for the Opening!

Three of my paintings are exhibited at The Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, Vermont. The Winter exhibit is quite interesting and will be open to the public until March. I hope you can visit this exhibit. I am particularly fond of the middle painting “Ascending”. The snow today reminded me of this oil and mixed media piece! Enjoy the beginning of our Winter!

I am inviting you to the Opening Reception of a juried Art Show in Spencertown, NY where one of my oil paintings is exhibited September 30 to October 29. The opening reception is on Saturday, September 30 between 4 and 6 PM. It is located in the gallery at Spencertown Academy, 790 Route 203, Spencertown, NY. The show is called Homes, Hamlets and Villages and exhibits beautiful and varied art. Please attend if you are going that way.

My Painting, “Early Williamstown Fall” 2023, oil on canvas, was chosen to be featured as a banner on Spring Street in Williamstown. The original painting can be viewed at The Spring Street Market in Williamstown. This banner is part of the “Eyes on Art Town” exhibition in the streets, and is sponsored by the town of Williamstown, Williamstown Cultural District, and the Williamstown Chamber of Commerce. Thank you all involved in the organization of this event. The banners representing different artists will be exhibited this Fall. Two of my paintings, “Full Moon” and “Retreating” are now being exhibited at the Becket Arts Center in Becket MA until August 21st. I hope you can make it!

I will be part of the Williamstown Open Studio Day along with other local artists on July 15th & 16th. There will be refreshments so make sure to bring friends. I look forward to seeing you there! See more details below!

In June some of my work will be exhibited at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, Vermont. This is “Holding on”, an oil on wood panel 11” x 14” framed in gold painted wood. It represents an old barn in Vermont showing the many layers of paint on mended wood planks. The history of these walls will never be known. Yet it must be filled with secrets and stories! The Spring Members Exhibition Opening will take place on May 13 from 2 to 4pm . The Exhibit will be offered to the public until July 16, 2023. 

Some of my paintings will be displayed at the Southern Vermont Arts Center Member Exhibition this fall. The reception will be on November 19th. further details to come!

My art will be featured in the Artful Mind art exhibit at the Front Street Gallery from October 1st - 31st. The artists reception will be Saturday, October 15, 5-8 pm.

I am showing three paintings at the September Exhibit of a new gallery called Future Labs Gallery. My paintings will be there for the whole month of September.
The galley is at 43 Eagle Street. It is open for visits on weekends Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

One of the paintings exhibited is called “Division”, it is oil with cold wax medium on wood panel. 9”X12”

My painting, “Fall Enclosed” will be exhibited from September to November at The Spring Street Café in Williamstown. It will also be represented as a banner in the town during  the Art in Our Town project, sponsored by the Williamstown Cultural District. This Fall painting will be a colorful addition to our Fall foliage!

Some of my paintings are being displayed at and are available for purchase at the Southern Vermont Arts Center Member Exhibition from April 2nd to May 22nd.

Some of my paintings will be on display from September 18th to October 31, 2021 in the Mass Audubon exhibit “Art in the Barn: Two Perspectives on the Natural World”. This is a two artists exhibit with Ghetta Hirsch and Carolyn Newberger. An Artist Reception will take place Saturday, September 25 from 4 to 7 PM. This free reception is also an Open House for the addition to the barn at Pleasant Valley Sanctuary. See Mass Audubon’s website for more information.

I will be having an open studio time every Thursday from 11-3. I am fully vaccinated, and maintain mask and social distancing guidelines. Please contact me if you would like to stop by!

I, along with lots of other local artists, will be exhibiting in the Spring/Summer All Member Exhibition at the Southern Vermont Arts Center from April 3 to June 6. All exhibited pieces will be for sale. I hope you can make it!

From February 25-April 11 I will be part of a Group Exhibit in Concord, MA. If you are driving to Boston, make a stop at The Three Stones Gallery in West Concord, It is an easy visit from Route 2 East or West.
